Shop Wood Polish
You must know what type of finish your floor has in order to take care of it properly. There is a little test that you can conduct to determine the finish on your flooring. By applying a small amount of rubbing alcohol in an inconspicuous area you can determine if your finish easily comes off then the finish is shellac. If the finish remains, you can try the same technique with lacquer thinner and if the finish comes off you’ll know that it is lacquer. Finally, if you still have difficulty determining the finish on your floors then you might have a polyurethane finish. It’s important to identify the type of finish so that you can clean the floor accordingly. By applying wood floor polish in a correct manner, you can prevent the damage that is associated with polish buildup.
After applying floor polish you should let the floor dry for at least half an hour. If you have a buildup of dirt and polish you might notice that there are streaks or a powdery substance on the top layer of your floor. Other signs might be that you find your floor becomes scratched easily. If you have a buildup of wood floor polish, there is no solution other than to remove all of the wax and polish, clean the floor thoroughly, and then apply a new layer of wood floor polish.
